Collagen Stimulating Filler

Aging and collagen loss are synonymous. Collagen gives tissue its structural volume, integrity, tightness, elasticity, and suppleness. Not all collagen is equal. Of the more than 28 known types, type 1 is the most critical in aesthetics. Many treatment modalities flag their benefits in collagen production, however Dr. Aaron uses a Collagen Stimulating modality that primarily boosts type 1 collagen production (As opposed to type 3, which most other treatments result in), effectively reversing components of aging in the most natural way.

Collagen stimulating filler can be used as a traditional filler (Excluding the lips, nose, and direct tear trough), as well as for a global anti aging approach by treating the whole face with small quantities in each area.

Another benefit is the stability of the results. Tradition filler wears off gradually over time, with a visible loss of effect apparent before the filler has been completely metabolized. Collagen stimulating filler has a 2 phase metabolism. Phase 1 occurs over 12 months, where Type 1 collagen is laid down, and the volumising effect remains relatively stable. Phase 2 follows where the filler is metabolised gradually over time, however the laid down collagen will persist for many years following the filler degredation. Thus there is a tangible, lasting benefit directly resulting from the treatment that has restored age related collagen loss.

Collagen stimulating treatment is an effective way to naturally restore volume over time, provide a stable immediate volumetric correction, and give long term tangible benefits. This also holds true in preventative based treatments, by using small quantities over multiple areas, purely for the collagen.

FAQs

The procedure takes between 20 and 60 minutes. Anaesthetic may be used for sensitive areas. Some people report minor discomfort, but this tends to settle quickly. The Collagen Stimulator is injected using either a sharp needle, a blunt cannula, or a combination of both depending on Dr Aaron's assessment. After your treatment there may be mild, transient discomfort, and some swelling over the following few days. Results improve over the 3-6 months after treatment, as the body produces natural type 1 collagen. It is very important to be conservative in this treatment to avoid over volumisation. Accordingly, additional treatments with any filler should not be performed for three months after your initial treatment, unless a staged approach was planned. More information about the Collagen Stimulator used by Dr Aaron can be found here.

Collagen Stimulators are a safe treatment, with minimal risks and side effects. Some side effects of the treatment are as follows: - Swelling and bruising. - Mild local tenderness. There are very rare complications that it is important to be aware of. These include severe life threatening allergic reactions, infection and blood vessel blockages that have very rarely lead to stroke, blindness, and death of tissue around the treatment site. This treatment is strictly not performed in people who are pregnant, breastfeeding, having IVF treatment, or planning any of the aforementioned; or in those who have taken prescription acne medication from their Dermatologist in the preceeding 3 months.

The longevity of Collagen Stimulators depends on the type used. They have a 2 phase effect. Phase 1 provides a stable result, as collagen is produced by the body, and lasts 1-2 years. Phase 2 lasts 3-6 months as the filler is fully metabolised by the body. The collagen produced may last many years after the filler has been metabolised, however, subsequent treatments are often still required to account for further aging.

There are a few steps to take before your Collagen Stimulator treatment to ensure the best outcome, and the lowest risk of side effects. They include: - Ceasing all anti-inflammatories, aspirin, herbal supplements, fish oil, krill oil, glucosamine and vitamin E 1 week before your treatment (Unless you have been advised to take these by a Medical Practitioner). - Avoiding alcohol for 2 days before your treatment. - Avoid wearing makeup to your appointment. If you do not adhere to the above your treatment may still proceed, but you will have a higher risk of side effects.

Following your treatment you will be provided with full aftercare instructions. You will be able to resume most normal activity immediately. You may be temporarily numb around the treatment area due to the effect of the local anaesthetic. There may be discomfort as the anaesthetic wears off. The most important instructions are the following: - Apply an ice pack gently for any discomfort and to reduce swelling. - Do not massage the treated area. - Avoid major dental treatment for 2 weeks (Clarify with your dentist regarding suitability is you are unsure). - Avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours. - Avoid alcohol for 24 hours. Full details of the treatment aftercare can be found here. The Collagen Stimulator will take a minimum of 3 months to give its full effect. In this time it is important not to be concerned regarding the outcome. Additional treatments can be performed at the 3 month mark (And earlier if a staged treatment was planned).
