Liposuction is a safe and permanent fat reduction treatment option that effectively removes stubborn areas of fat helping you to achieve a toned and sculpted physique. It is the gold standard treatment for fat reduction and body contouring in both men and women, achieving far superior results compared to alternative forms of fat reduction (such as fat-freezing). Radiofrequency can be utilised during liposuction to help breakdown the fat and tighten overlying skin. Popular areas commonly treated with liposuction include the following:

  • arm fat;
  • inner and outer thighs;
  • bra bulge fat;
  • flanks and love handles;
  • above knees;
  • lower abdomen;
  • pubic area.

The best liposuction results are achieved when treating the body as a whole, rather than isolated areas, to ensure that you achieve a balanced and sculpted physique.

Expert Radiofrequency Assisted Liposuction in Sydney

With only mild discomfort, and minimal downtime, more and more people are turning to radiofrequency assisted liposuction to avoid expensive and invasive surgery to effectively deal with stubborn areas of fat and loose skin.

  • Tighten loose skin and improve the appearance of stretch marks.
  • Reduce stubborn areas of fat and improve the contours of your abdomen.
  • Avoid surgical scars, risk, expense and downtime with a modest lift and tightening effect.
  • Safe and effective treatment that takes under an hour.

Tummytite & Bodytite Liposuction Treatment

Tummytite uses a device known as Bodytite, a radiofrequency device, in combination with liposuction to improve the contours of your abdomen. There is no general anaesthetic and no incisions or scars, and the procedure is a fraction of the cost of surgery.

Tummytite is simple, yet effective. It targets the two predominant causes of an unsatisfactory silhouette: fat distribution and skin laxity.

Under local anaesthetic and in under 60 minutes, Tummytite:

  • Removes stubborn areas of fat, permanently.
  • Tightens loose skin and deeper support structures using precise, temperature-controlled radiofrequency energy.
  • Improves body contour and proportions.

Liposuction vs. Abdominoplasty

Whilst abdominoplasty is ideal for people with significant skin laxity of the abdomen, not everyone needs such invasive surgery.

Unlike an abdominoplasty, liposuction:

  • may be done under local anaesthetic, in-clinic;
  • tightens loose skin when used in combination with radiofrequency, improving its quality through collagen stimulation;
  • avoids the need for large incisions and long scars on the lower abdomen;
  • has a notably shorter recovery time, meaning you can get back to the important things in life sooner.

Liposuction in Sydney

A pleasing sculpted physique has been idealised for decades. Unfortunately, many of us have stubborn areas of fat that are difficult to shift with diet and exercise alone. Others have disproportion between different areas of their body leading to an unbalanced figure. Body sculpting liposuction is the best treatment to permanently reduce targeted areas of fat to give you a balanced and sculpted physique.

Liposuction is safe, simple and effective, and it has an incredible track record of efficacy with decades of research and refinement. With minimal discomfort and low downtime, there is no wonder why it is one of the most commonly performed procedures worldwide.

The process is simple. It begins with a comprehensive consultation where your concerns, understanding, expectations and goals are established. You will have the procedure explained in detail, and Dr Aaron will recommend the best areas to treat to improve your areas of concern and overall physique.

The treatment itself is straightforward. The treatment area is numbed, and the fat is floated using a fluid known as ‘tumescence’. This ensures maximal safety, and minimal discomfort. Depending on the treatment area the fat may then be melted using internal heating, or roughened using a small probe. Following this, the fat will then be removed using suction, and the skin tightened if needed.

After fat removal the area will be dressed, and a garment applied to ensure your recovery is as smooth as possible, and to achieve the best results possible.

Liposuction is the best results focussed treatment option for body contouring and targeted fat removal. Other treatments that utilise internal heating (Vaser; Renuvion; Facetite; Boytite) do not replace effective liposuction, rather they can assist with removing the fat and tightening the skin.

With expertly performed liposuction, results can be impressive, are permanent, and can be tailored to your aesthetic goals.

Almost all areas of the body can be sculpted with liposuction.

How To Tighten The Skin With Liposuction

A number of devices can be used to facilitate effective liposuction. They may help to melt fat, making liposuction easier to perform, and tighten the skin. They are not required in all liposuction procedures.

Vaser

  • Vaser is an adjuvant treatment to liposuction that uses high energy ultrasound to heat the fat prior to liposuction. Heating the fat helps to break it down and liquify it, meaning the fat removal process is quicker, with less mechanical trauma. There is conflicting evidence about its effect on fat transfer survivability (or how much of the fat ‘takes’), as while there is less mechanical trauma to the fat cells (theoretically increasing their viability), the heat energy may reduce their viability. The heat produced also poses a risk of skin burns if used too aggressively.

Renuvion

  • Renuvion (previously known as J-Plasma) is a device that uses helium plasma to precisely and aggressively heat the internal tissues causing a direct shrink-wrap effect of the skin. Used immediately after liposuction, tightening the skin and vaporising and residual fluid can help to get better and more defined results, and expedite the healing process.

Bodytite & Facetite

  • The Bodytite and Facetite devices use bipolar radiofrequency to heat broader areas of internal tissue. Known as bulk heating, the goal of this treatment is to tighten structures that connect the skin to the deeper layers of tissue immediately after liposuction. It is useful in tightening focal areas that have had a moderate to aggressive amount of fat removed.

What Areas Can Be Treated With Liposuction

Lower Face

  • Permanently slim your lower face by reducing chubby cheeks with expert face and cheek liposuction. This safe and minimally invasive treatment can improve the definition of your jawline and soften sagging jowls, marionette lines and nasolabial folds, all with minimal discomfort and downtime.
  • Can be combined with internal heating devices (Facetite) for even better results.

Neck

  • Neck liposuction is the perfect way to improve your side profile and jawline by permanently eliminating a double chin or turkey neck. More effective than treatment options such as fat dissolving injections and Coolsculpting (fat freezing), this minimally invasive alternative to a neck lift has minimal discomfort and downtime.
  • Use in conjunction with internal heating devices (Necktite) and dermal fillers for a comprehensive rejuvenation of the neck and jawline.

Arms

  • Tighten and tone your arms by permanently reducing stubborn areas of fat with liposuction. Upper arms, shoulders and bra bulge fat can be permanently improved with this safe and minimally invasive procedure.
  • For best results, liposuction of the arms can be supercharged with internal heating treatments to shrink wrap the skin and get the most defined results.

Abdomen

  • Treat yourself to a sculpted physique with proven safe and permanent liposuction. By selectively reducing small pockets of fat with this minimally invasive procedure your body contour can be balanced, sharpened and defined, giving you a natural sculpted appearance.
  • Abdominal liposuction can be combined with internal heating (Tummytite) to tighten the skin to achieve the best results.

Flanks

  • Liposuction of the flanks (also known as ‘love handles’) is an effective and safe treatment that can permanently reduce this stubborn area of fat. Improving the flanks can help give you a shapelier and more defined figure.
  • Combining flank liposuction with internal heating can be performed to tighten the skin, improving the results.

Back

  • Achieve a toned torso with back liposuction to permanently improve your body contour. Liposuction of the back is an effective way to improve your body shape and definition with this safe and effective treatment.
  • By using internal heating treatments in combination with liposuction, the skin can be tightened, improving your results.

Buttocks

  • Using liposuction, you can treat yourself to a shapely behind that is in proportion to your figure. Liposuction selectively removes prominent areas of stubborn fat to improve the contour of your buttocks, and balance the harmony with your thighs, back and abdomen.

Thighs

  • Get tight and toned thighs by ridding yourself of stubborn areas of fat permanently with liposuction. Liposuction can be performed on the front, back, outer and inner thighs to safely and effectively slim, shape and contour your thighs, improving their appearance, and the balance of your lower body contour.
  • By using internal heating treatments in combination with liposuction, skin can be tightened, improving the definition and results of your treatment.

Legs & ankles

  • Leg and ankle liposuction is the most effective way to improve their shape and definition, and is the gold-standard treatment for improving fat-related ‘cankles’. It is quick, safe, and has minimal discomfort and minimal downtime. Results are permanent too.

Full Body

  • Total body liposuction is the gold standard in achieving a balanced and aesthetically pleasing body shape. Whist comprehensive, this approach is less about simple fat reduction, and more about giving you the shape and definition that works with your natural figure. It is safe, effective, permanent, and has minimal discomfort and low downtime. It can also be staged for those wanting a more gradual transformation.
  • Combining full body liposuction with internal heating devices, and a healthy lifestyle is the best way to achieve natural yet noticeable results that leave you feeling confident in your own skin.

Liposuction treatment areas

Liposuction is the gold standard treatment option for reducing stubborn areas of fat and improving the contours of your body. Often referred to as liposculpture, this safe and highly researched treatment is ideal for those wanting to improve their physique. The best results are achievable by ensuring the body is contoured in a balanced way.

Where liposuction can be used on the body:

Upper and lower abdomen

Abdominal liposuction can be used to reduce small or large stubborn pockets of fat. Using skin tightening devices, ab lines can be etched in, giving the abdomen a more contoured and lead appearance.

Back and flanks

Excess fat affecting the upper and lower back as well as the flanks can be removed with liposuction. This improves the shape of your torso, giving you a more pleasing physique.

Upper arms

Saggy upper arms (tuck shop arms or bingo wings) and excess upper arm fat can be treated with liposuction and skin tightening. This is a very safe and quick treatment, with minimal downtime.

Thighs, knees, legs and ankles

If you are bothered by excess fat affecting the legs, or their general shape, liposuction can be used to improve the contour of your thighs, legs, knees and ankles. Skin tightening can also be used to further improve the shape of your legs.

Cheeks, neck and double chin

For those bothered by chubby cheeks and a heavy under chin and neck, liposuction offers a powerful and permanent solution. Liposuction to the face and neck is safe, and can be done under local anaesthetic in less than an hour.

The secret to sculpting the perfect physique with skin tightening liposuction

Liposuction is a highly validated, safe and effective treatment to permanently reduce stubborn fat and improve the contour of your physique. It is the gold standard option for body contouring results.

When determining if liposuction is right for you, a common question is in regards to potential loose skin. While many people find that their skin ‘springs back’, there are some who have a notable loss of elasticity, meaning that with liposuction alone, they may be left with redundant skin.

Fortunately, new advances in medical technology now provide a solution. By combining fat reducing liposuction with internal skin tightening, you can now contour your physique, and achieve high-definition results with athletic contours and tight skin. Internal skin tightening may use ultrasound (known as Vaser), radio frequency (known as Bodytite), or plasma (known as J-plasma or Renuvion). Each option has it’s own pros and cons, but all work to achieve similar results.

Using liposuction with internal skin tightening, you can:

  • permanently reduce stubborn areas of fat;
  • improve your physique, achieving a defined and balanced body contour;
  • tighten areas of saggy skin;
  • sculpt abs and other athletic features of the torso.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is radiofrequency assisted liposuction?

Radiofrequency assisted liposuction is a powerful, minimally invasive treatment to permanently remove fat, tighten the skin and contour the body with minimal discomfort, and minimal downtime.

It utilises the latest in skin tightening and fat melting technology, combined with traditional liposuction techniques to quickly and effectively reshape the body without the large scars associated with surgery.

How does liposuction work?

Liposuction uses very simple principles to remove fat. Essentially, a vacuum (or suction) is created through a metal tube that has holes (known as a cannula) that is repeatedly pushed and pulled through specific areas of fat. The fat is suctioned on to the holes, and the movement of the cannula fat the suctioned fat apart from other tissue. It then passes down the cannula into a container.

Before suction is applied to the fat, the area must be numbed. This is achieved using tumescent anaesthesia. Tumescent anaesthesia uses a large amount of fluid which ‘floats’ the fat (essentially expanding the fat to ensure ease of removal). Tumescence also contains adrenaline to reduce bleeding and bruising.

At the completion of liposuction, compression garments are applied. They ensure any excess tumescent fluid is removed through the small holes where the cannula was introduced.

Over the coming months, small amounts of residual fluid are reabsorbed by the body, and the skin retracts, leaving a more contoured, defined and balanced appearance.

How does radiofrequency assisted liposuction work?

Radiofrequency assisted liposuction involves a number of steps in contouring the body, removing unwanted fat and tightening the overlying skin. The steps are as follows:

  • the treatment area is marked to ensure precision and symmetry;
  • the skin is extensively cleaned with draped;
  • local tumescent anaesthesia is injected to the treatment area to minimise discomfort, bruising and bleeding;
  • a small liposuction cannula is inserted under the skin into the subcutaneous fat of the treatment area. Negative pressure is applied, and the fat gently removed;
  • following the contouring of the treatment area, a small radiofrequency emitting probe is inserted to the treatment area. This heats up the skin and supportive tissue from within, causing it to tighten and remodel, whilst also stimulating the production of collagen.

The end result is a more please body contour and tighter, firmer skin.

Which areas can be treated with radiofrequency assisted liposuction?

Radiofrequency assisted liposuction can treat many areas of the body with stubborn fat and loose skin, including:

  • upper arms;
  • bra bulge fat;
  • upper and lower abdomen;
  • back, flanks and love handles;
  • pubic area;
  • inner and outer thighs;
  • calves.
Is radiofrequency assisted liposuction safe?

When performed using tumescent local anaesthesia radiofrequency assisted liposuction is a very safe procedure. The main side effects include localised swelling which resolves quickly.

Is liposuction safe?

Liposuction is an incredibly safe procedure when performed by an experienced doctor. Complications are rare, and can be avoided by good technique. Rare risks include anaesthetic reactions, bleeding, and injury to deeper tissue at the treated area.

Is liposuction right for me?

If you are unhappy with the shape of your body, or are bothered by small pockets of stubborn fat that don’t seem to shift with diet or exercise, then liposuction may be the treatment for you. It is the gold standard and most effective treatment for body contouring and fat reduction, and has minimal discomfort and downtime. If your goal is weight loss, then liposuction is not a substitute for this.

Am I suitable for radiofrequency assisted liposuction?

If you are bothered by stubborn areas of fullness or skin laxity or the shape of certain parts of your body then radiofrequency assisted liposuction can be the solution.

Using powerful radiofrequency to heat the inner layers of skin and melt fat, combined with traditional liposuction methods to remove excess fat, your body can be elegantly and safely contoured, and skin tightened.

Is radiofrequency assisted liposuction better than surgery?

Radiofrequency assisted liposuction has many advantages over surgery including lower risk, cost and downtime, and no large incisions or scars. It can be done under local anaesthetic. Surgery is more appropriate for areas of significant fullness and heaviness, and significant skin sagging, such as that after massive weight loss. Surgery is also indicated if there is separation of the abdominal muscles (rectus diastasis).

How long does radiofrequency assisted liposuction take?

Radiofrequency assisted liposuction can take anywhere from 1-4 hours depending on the extent of treatment required to improve your areas of concern.

Am I awake for my liposuction treatment?

Depending on the areas treated and the volume of fat to be removed during your liposuction you may either be awake or under anaesthetic.

Does liposuction have downtime?

Downtime after liposuction is minimal, and will depend on the areas that have been treated. Most people return to work after a few days, and normal activity after 1-2 weeks.

Does radiofrequency assisted liposuction have downtime?

Radiofrequency assisted liposuction has mild downtime, that will differ depending on the treatment area. You can resume most activity the following day, but should take things easy for 1-2 weeks. Early mobilisation with walking can help to speed up the recovery process. You will need to avoid intense exercise and high impact activity (such as running) for 2 weeks.

You will need to wear a compression garment underneath your clothes for 6 weeks to ensure optimal healing, and to get the best possible results.

There will be some swelling and bruising that generally improve significantly over the first few days.

Can I exercise after liposuction?

You should avoid intense exercise for 5-7 days after liposuction. Gentle exercise such as walking is recommended as it will help excess fluid and swelling to resolve faster.

When can I exercise after radiofrequency assisted liposuction?

Following treatment with radiofrequency assisted liposuction, you will initially have some bruising and swelling. You will also notice ‘leaking’ at areas where the liposuction cannula has been inserted. This is completely normal, and a sign that things are improving. The leaking fluid is mostly excess anaesthetic that was injected at the time of the procedure.

You will experience some degree of tenderness to the treated area.

It is important to start walking and moving as soon as possible after your treatment. This will help speed up the recovery process. It is important to avoid strenuous or moderate to high impact exercise for two weeks.

When can I go back to work after liposuction?

Depending on your occupation, you can resume work after just a few days.

Is radiofrequency assisted liposuction painful?

Radiofrequency assisted liposuction has minimal discomfort when adequate anaesthesia is used. Your procedure will use tumescent anaesthesia, and occasionally some mild oral sedation as well as analgesia to minimise any discomfort.

Is liposuction painful?

When performed correctly there is minimal discomfort with liposuction. Strong anaesthetic known as tumescence helps to ensure the treated area is numb, and that it remains numb for hours after your procedure.

How much fat can be removed with liposuction?

The amount of fat that can be removed during liposuction will vary depending on the setting. Generally speaking, no more than 5 litres of lipoaspirate should be removed in any one session. In New South Wales, a maximum of 2.5 litres of lipoaspirate can be removed outside of a licensed facility (such as a hospital). In Victoria, the limit outside of a licenced facility is 200 millilitres.

Can the fat removed with liposuction be injected elsewhere?

Known as a fat transfer, fat removed during your liposuction procedure can be injected in other areas of the body including the face, hands, shoulders and buttocks. The fat removed is known as lipoaspirate. Lipoaspirate contains fat cells, cells and growth factors. Transferred fat can be used to add volume and regenerate tissue. Importantly, not all transferred fat will ‘take’, accordingly, subsequent treatments may be needed.

What can I expect after liposuction?

Following your liposuction, you will experience some ‘leaking’ of tumescent fluid. You will need to wear a compression garment to help expedite the resolution of swelling. Pain is generally very mild, and can be easily managed with simple pain relief such as paracetamol.

Will the fat come back after liposuction?

Fat that has been removed by liposuction cannot return. It is important to appreciate that residual fat can grow with weight gain, however the amount of fat accumulation in an area previously treated with liposuction will be less than had the area not been treated.

How long do radiofrequency assisted liposuction results last?

Radiofrequency assisted liposuction permanently removes fat tissue. The skin tightening effect is also permanent, however ongoing ageing means that if untreated, the skin will eventually start to sag after 5-7 years.

Will I gain fat in other areas after liposuction?

If you gain weight after liposuction, any areas with residual fat will increase in size. However, the distribution of the fat will generally be more balanced, following the distribution achieved through liposuction.

How can I tighten loose skin on my stomach without surgery?

Many different options to tighten sagging stomach skin exist, however few are effective. There remains only two definitive ways to tighten loose skin. They are to excise it (cut it out) with surgery, or heat it up. Radiofrequency assisted liposuction uses internal heating to shrink wrap the skin.

While internal heating is not as effective as surgery, it has far lower risks, downtime and cost compared to an abdominoplasty (tummy tuck).

Radiofrequency skin needling can be used in addition to the internal heating performed with radiofrequency assisted liposuction for a more comprehensive result, and to help slow down future sagging that naturally occurs with age.

Will I have loose skin after liposuction?

Loose skin is unlikely when liposuction is performed in an appropriate candidate. Internal heating treatments can help to shrink wrap any areas of mild loose skin. For those where loose skin is likely, this can be addressed by removing small area of excess skin either immediately following liposuction, or at a later date if needed.

How do I know which areas I should treat with liposuction?

Whilst most people have clear areas of their body they are dissatisfied with, the best plan is to have a comprehensive consultation with Dr Aaron. During your consultation he will listen to your concerns, take the time to understand your goals, assess your body type and structure, and guide you on how to get a sculpted physique you can feel confident with.

Should I have Vaser, Renuvion or Bodytite liposuction?

Not everyone requires fat melting and skin tightening devices with their liposuction treatment. Using them unnecessarily adds risk to your liposuction treatment without a significant benefit.

Generally, these devices are used for areas of very ‘tough’ fat, those undergoing a second procedure who may have small amounts of scar tissue under the skin, or those who have a degree of skin laxity or excess.

When can I drive after radiofrequency assisted liposuction?

You should avoid driving for at least 48 hours after having radiofrequency assisted liposuction. This allows time for the anaesthetic to wear off, and for the first stages of recovery to commence.

this time period also gives you a chance to hydrate, and ensure there are no pressing issues that may make driving dangerous.

What is the fastest way to recover from radiofrequency assisted liposuction?

To maximise the speed at which you recover from liposuction, you can adhere to the following:

  • be strictly compliant with your compression garment;
  • stay hydrated;
  • start moving early. Walking is fine, but be careful not to overdo it;
  • avoid smoking;
  • keep the incision sites clean, and allow them to drain.
What are the alternatives to liposuction?

Liposuction is the gold standard treatment for fat removal and body contouring. Alternative treatments such as fat-freezing and fat dissolving injections do not achieve the same results, and may take multiple sessions to see a satisfactory improvement. Liposuction is best suited to people who are looking for a definitive solution to improve stubborn areas of fat and sculpt a pleasing physique with minimal risk, almost no discomfort, and minimal downtime.

Most people who undergo liposuction are surprised at how straightforward the process is.
